Who can refer to LAAS?
ANYONE can refer to our service:
- The person needing an advocate.
- A friend, relative, colleague
- A carer or someone working for social/health care
- Any other relevant service.
We would of course expect that, if you were referring someone else, you would discuss it with them first.
We provide independent advocacy to adults 16 years of age or older, across Argyll & Bute and West Dunbartonshire.
The demand for our service means we must prioritise who we are able to support and our first priority is for those under statutory interventions such as those Detained, or otherwise compelled, by the mental health Act, those under Adult Support and protection, Adults with Incapacity or those being discharged from Hospital under section 13 z(a) of the Social Work Scotland Act
You can refer by either completing our referral form, or by simply giving us a call. You will be able to leave a message if no one is available to take your call, please leave your name, where you are and contact details.
- West Dunbartonshire – 01389 726543
- Argyll & Bute – 01546 606056
Your referral will be passed onto the advocacy service in your area and a member of the team will contact you as soon as they can.
Your details will be kept securely by LAAS and your information will not be shared without your consent, unless your or someone else’s safety is at risk.
