Lomond and Argyll Advocacy Service have an opportunity for an Independent Advocacy Worker to support the community across West Dunbartonshire. The focus of the role will be to help vulnerable adults have their voices heard and their rights upheld, particularly whilst they are subject to legislative processes such as the Mental Health Act, Adults with Incapacity Act and other such statutory frameworks.
We are looking for someone who has an understanding of the health and social care sector, can work with a wide variety of people in need, has excellent listening skills, empathy and is non judgemental. You will be able to “get alongside” people, work with them and understand their rights while being able to form trusting relationships, elicit their views and represent them accurately or encourage them to represent themselves.
You will be committed to supporting a social justice agenda and the principle that everyone has rights. You will be able to travel independently around West Dunbartonshire, work on your own and as part of a team. A full training and induction program will be provided and you will have the support of an experienced and knowledgeable team. Whilst experience of advocacy may be helpful, it is not essential.
You can download an application pack below.
Closing date is 12 noon Friday 1st July 2022
